CHAPTER 17
Phoenix woke up with a start, wincing in slight pain from soreness. Looking around groggily, she tried to determine what time it was. Rubbing her eyes, she picked up her cell phone off her bed side table and looked at the time. ‘Twelve thirty?’ Phoenix thought. She had not slept this late since she was a teenager. Then again she had not had sex eight times in a row since… ‘Wait, I have never had sex eight times in a row,’ she thought. Nick had been insatiable for her. They had made love in her bedroom, the kitchen, the shower, the hall. Now that she thought about it and tried to move, she felt like she had only had an hour or two of sleep. Falling back on the bed, she thought about how gentle and loving Nick had been with her last night. Phoenix had had her fair share of sexual partners but none of them had treated her as a treasure like Nick. Grabbing her silk robe at the end of the bed, she slid it on as she was climbing out of bed to go and find him, deciding to pit stop at the bathroom and wash her face and brush her teeth before going on the search. As she started down the steps, she could hear male and female voices in her living room.
“Nick?” she called out to him. Nick stepped out into the hall to greet her. “I am here, love,” he said smiling as he wrapped her in his arms kissing her passionately. Phoenix marveled at how strong his arms were wrapped around her. Nick was a God among men. His body was toned, fit and hard in all the right places and soft just where it needed to be. He was six-foot three-inches, which was a perfect fit for Phoenix’s five-foot ten-inch frame.
“Good morning,” she said, smiling up at him.
“Good morning, my love,” Nick whispered to her. Looking into her eyes, Nick realized Phoenix had touched his heart in ways that he did not think was possible after Melanie.
“Were you watching TV? I thought I heard voices,” Phoenix said looking up at him. She had not been this happy in a very long time.
“No, we have company,” he said as he led her into the living room where Vixen, Daniel, Nya, Sal and Gavin were waiting.
“Well, it is about time,” Vixen said, smiling at her cousin. She and Daniel had brought the boys with them and everyone in the family was enamored with these beautiful little boys. Whenever they were all together, neither of them got to touch their sons.
“Uh-huh, you nastee,” Nya said jokingly. She was bouncing baby Sal in her arms while he played with the stethoscope that was around her neck. Baby Sal was the happiest and fattest of the three boys with a healthy appetite. His mother’s features were prominent in him now as a baby except for his eyes. He had Daniel’s blue eyes. Baby Sal, like his namesake, caused a stir where ever he went.
